About us

The Lions Club of Wasaga Beach began, in February of 1963, as a Business Men's Group brought together by the Reverend Donald French, Rector of the Church of the Prince of Peace, with the goal of increasing Church membership.

The first members were Sidney Martin, Morris Bent, Stanley Piltcher  and the Reverend Don.

The fellowship caused rapid growth in the group and soon a large number of men were meeting at the Church each week.  As the men were of many different faiths, though broadminded, it became obvious they would not all would become Anglican Church Members.

Realizing the great potential force for good in these men the Reverend Don suggested they become a Lions Club.

Lion Jack Carroll of the Stayner Lions was the first of several Lions Club members, from different Lions Clubs, to attend meetings and explain the Goals of Lionism.

The Wasaga Beach Lions 1st President was Lion Sid Martin.

To this day the members of the Lions Club of Wasaga Beach strive to maintain the high standard set by the founding members.
